Why followers don't get your auto-DM, and how to fix it
"I commented but didn't get anything!" is the most common reply on any comment-to-DM reel. Usually the automation worked and the DM is sitting somewhere the person did not look. Sometimes it really did not send.
Work through the checks below in order; the first two explain most cases.
Check 1: is it in their Requests folder?
New conversations from people who do not follow the account land in the Requests folder. If the commenter does not follow you, your DM may sit in Requests. Add a public reply such as "Sent! Check your message requests" so people know where to look.
Check 2: did the keyword match?
Open the comment. If they wrote "link pls" and your rule only matches LINK, it did not fire. Add the variant, or switch the reel to trigger on any comment.
Check 3: how old is the comment?
A private reply to a comment is one message per comment, sent within 7 days of the comment; you can continue only if the person replies within 24 hours. A comment from two weeks ago cannot get a private reply now.
Check 4: did your plan run out?
Look at your tool's dashboard. Monthly DM or contact limits on some plans stop sending partway through a busy month. Tadlo AI has no monthly DM cap on any plan.
Check 5: is message access on?
In Instagram's message settings, connected tools need access to messages. If it was switched off, nothing sends. Also check the tool is still connected; changing your password can disconnect some tools.
Check 6: did they get it already?
Each comment gets one private reply. If someone commented twice, the second comment may not trigger another DM, depending on your tool's settings.
Check 7: the follow gate
If you use a follow gate, the person may have received the follow request but not followed, so the link has not been sent yet. A good gate DM tells them clearly what to do next.

Check from a second account
The fastest diagnosis is to test yourself. From a second account that does not follow you, comment the exact keyword. If the DM arrives in Requests, the automation works and the issue is where people look. If nothing arrives, check the tool's activity log for an error.
